Experiencing the new Ford EcoSport

1

Bataan, Philippines—Recently, Ford introduced an all-new version of the bestselling EcoSport. The new EcoSport comes with new design tweaks for both its exterior and interior, upgraded smart and safety features and driver-assist technologies (DAT), and improvements in driving performance and fuel efficiency.
At the heart of the new EcoSport are two engine variants: the award-winning 1.0L EcoBoost and the new and more powerful 1.5L Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing (TiVCT) engine, producing 125 and 123 horsepower, respectively.
The 1.0L EcoBoost engine features direct fuel injection technology and variable camshaft timing with turbocharger. EcoBoost is Ford’s most technologically-advanced engine ever, producing more power while consuming less fuel. It also now comes with the auto start/stop technology when idling at traffic lights.

Driving the 1.0L EcoBoost Titanium AT model around the freeways and uphill and downhill roads of Bataan was a smooth-sailing experience. Taking this out during our activity-filled day, the experience was surprisingly relaxing and stress-free. The new EcoSport is equipped with multiple smart features and DATs that make driving safer and more convenient. These include the Rear-View Camera with Rear Parking Assist, Rain Sensing Wipers, Automatic Headlights, and Smart Keyless Entry.
The new EcoSport is also powered by SYNC 3 with Navigation that allows drivers to keep their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel while staying connected. SYNC 3 features voice control for the entertainment system and the driver’s calls and text messages. The AppLink 3.0 feature on SYNC 3 also allows passengers to use their favorite smartphone applications via the car’s touchscreen. The new EcoSport also includes a seven-speaker audio system for the Titanium variant.

Unlike the old variant, the new one has its touchscreen tablet mounted just right above the air-conditioners, making it easier to access and tinker with. The old model had it placed at the top center part of the dashboard and positioned in an inward manner. Aside from being smart, the new EcoSport also comes with a slew of safety features including Hill-Start Assist Control, Electronic Brake-force Distribution System, Electronic Stability Program and Anti-Locking Brake System, as well as six airbags available in all EcoSport variants.
The comfort and convenience of the ride may be attributed to non-congested traffic situation of Bataan. But these smart and safety features could best be utilized along the busy streets and highways of Metro Manila.

The new 1.5L engine that features TiVCT promises smoother and faster acceleration, together with the new six-speed automatic transmission. However, driving the 1.5L Trend AT variant might require some adjustment and patience with the engine. The car’s acceleration tends to take its time in responding to gas pedal transmissions, unlike the Ambiente variant.
Nevertheless, convenience and comfort are best delivered by the new Ford EcoSport, especially for long road trips like this one. Hopefully, this fares during city drives as it does at the countryside setting.

The new EcoSport are available in four variants with the following price points:
