Alongside the announcement of the store opening this Saturday, March 17, Xiaomi just unveiled today two of its newest devices: the entry-level Redmi 5A and the mid-range Redmi 5 Plus. Both aggressively priced to make sure they can compete with the many local and international brands competing in its space.
The Redmi 5A runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor with Adreno 308 GPU, Android Nougat with MIUI 9, 2GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage with microSD expansion of up to 128GB, dual SIM support, and 4G LTE connectivity. It also comes with a 5-inch HD IPS display, 13-megapixel f/2.2 rear camera and 5-megapixel f/2.0 front camera, and 3,000mAh battery.
Xiaomi is selling the device for P4,590 over at the company’s official Lazada store. But it’ll cost P200 less when it Xiaomi officially starts selling on March 15, putting the price at P4,390. It will be available in Gold, Rose Gold, and Dark Gray. And we just learned from Revu that if you have Lazada’s digital wallet, you can get the phone for P4,090.
The Redmi 5 Plus, on the other hand, is the company’s first Redmi device with an 18:9 full screen display. The Chinese company will be selling the Redmi 5 Plus at its authorized stores starting Saturday, which as we mentioned is the opening of its second Mi Store in the country.
