There was a sense of nostalgia in the air when HMD Global officially launched the Nokia 8 in the Philippines at the end of last month. Hearing the familiar Nokia ringtones can do that for a crowd who mostly had at least used one Nokia phone in their lives. But the new smartphone looks to the future instead of focuses on the past.
HMD has been boasting some unique features to the Nokia 8 that is setting it apart from the other Android devices out there:
- Dual-Sight camera. The Nokia 8 allows users to take photos or livestream using the front and rear cameras simultaneously giving you this split-screen mode that could be fun to use for Instagram and other social networks. Both carry a 13-megapixel sensor HMD co-developed with ZEISS.
- OZO audio. This feature lets you capture immersive 360-degree spatial surround sound to accompany the 4K videos you can take witht this smartphone. And as HMD says binaural codecs on this device will allow for high fidelity playback even on devices without OZO audio.
On top of these, the other specs of the device are pretty standard premium Android specs. It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, Android 7.1.1, and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage or 6GB RAM with 128GB storage. The Nokia 8 comes with dual nano SIM support, 5.3-inch QHD IPS display, and a non-removable 3,090mAh Li-Ion battery. The Nokia 8 will retail in the country for P29,990 and comes in steel and polished blue.
