CESpotlight 2015: Sony

0

It’s that time of the year again! No, we’re not talking about Valentine’s Day (not yet, at least), but the Consumer Electronics Show, or better known as Christmas-for-techies. This year’s CES has been one wow-fest after another, and we’re here to give you a quick look at what to expect from almost every tech brand out there this 2015. Up on our spotlight is a brand well-known in our country: Sony!

Hacking incidents aside, Sony has a lot of goodies this year, and most of it got our nods.

1New video cameras
2014 was the year of the GoPro, but did you know Sony has a slightly cheaper alternative? The Sony Action Cam gets a facelift and extra features for the new year in the FDR-X1000V, including livestreaming and loop recording. We like the livestreaming (over WiFi) feature, as friends and family can get to see your adventures in real time! Sony has also unveiled the Handycam FDR-AX33, their premiere 4K video recorder!

3A new Walkman
The Walkman has had a few touch-and-go re-issues in the past, and while we agree that the original Walkman is still the best (millennials may need to go through the history books for this), this latest Walkman has been a long time coming. Audiophiles are the target of this new device, boasting high definition output, a Google Play app support, but an old-fashioned OS: 4.2 Jelly Bean. The OS and the price (almost $1200!) did not get our nod of approval, though.

4Awesome TVs
Perhaps the announcement that caught our attention the most was Sony’s new line-up of 4K TVs. It runs on the latest version of Android TV with a new 4K Processor X1 engine that enhances color, clarity, and contrast. It comes in three screen variants: 55-inch, 65-inch, and 75-inch. As a tasty topping to this treat, the new Sony TVs are the slimmest smart TVs ever, measuring only 4.9mm at its thinnest part. Expect the new TV line to be released by Q2 of this year onwards.
