Only in its second year, the Digital Congress by the Internet and Mobile Marketing Association of the Philippines (IMMAP) is already expecting a large following from giants in different industries. Why not? The likes of Google, Nestle, and Unilever attend the country’s largest digital gathering to hear a powerhouse of speakers prophesy and direct the current of the digital landscape.

During the press launch held at the Discovery Primea this week, IMMAP Vice President and DigiCon Chairman Ed Mapa noted that this year’s congress carries the banner “DX: The Culture of Digital Transformation.” This echoes DigiCon’s five-plus-one track set—departing from the previous hundred-or-so topics and speakers in favor of a more manageable serving. The tracks are: People and Organizations, New Age of Storytelling, Living Streams, Customer Experience, Pivots and Unicorns, and Culture.

From L-R: Host RJ Ledesma, International Branch CEO for Team VR George Royeca, Deputy Commissioner for the National Privacy Commission Dondi Mapa, Design Thinking Specialist and founder of the OnOff Group Phil Smithson, and CEO of Thinking Machines Stephanie Sy, DigiCon Chairman Ed Mapa, and DigiCon Vice-Chair Issa Tobias.

The launch also sampled a few of the speakers expected to grace the DigiCon. Thinking Machines CEO Stephanie Sy talked about how AI and data science will help businesses make meaning from internal data streams, while National Privacy Commission Depute Commissioner Dondi Mapa provided the equilibrium by focusing on data privacy and integrity. OnOff Design Thinking Specialist and founder Phil Smithson noted that design goes beyond the packaging, and TeamVR’s George Royeca said that content—not the medium—drives experience. Other speakers in the DigiCon include bigwigs from Google, WARC, Deloitte, Facebook, and many more, resulting to a total of 80 speakers from across industries.

This is in line with IMMAP VP Ed Mapa’s belief that “A true transformation needs to occur at many levels. Ultimately, organizations need to constantly re-evaluate and be ready to change how they work—from processes, to organizational teams, and to ways of working. The sooner we adapt, the more benefits we can enjoy.”

The Digital Congress 2017 “DX: The Culture of Digital Transformation” will take place at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) on October 11-13, 2017 and is expected to draw 2,500 participants. Ticket prices may be viewed here, including the Super Early Bird promo running until May 31st.
