Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation (TMP) strengthens its role in the regional automotive industry as it leads the first-ever technical training for Body, Paint, and Estimation (BPE) in the Philippines for instructors from Toyota Asia affiliates.
The BPE Regional Training, initiated under the global direction of Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), ensures consistent after-sales skill development across markets in alignment with the competency standards of TMC.
This year, Toyota Motor Asia (TMA) has handpicked TMP to conduct the BPE regional training on its behalf. Upon holding a training capability assessment, the regional headquarters recognized TMP Filipino instructors’ expertise and leadership in training delivery, as well as the company’s adequate facilities and equipment, as essential in the success of the flagship program.
TMP conducted the first leg of the training from September 7 to 18, 2026 at its head office and manufacturing plant in Santa Rosa City, Laguna. Four (4) Body Repair Instructors from Toyota Asia affiliates in Indonesia, Laos, Thailand, and Pakistan underwent body repair lectures and exercises that required them to master both theoretical knowledge and practical applications under the guidance of TMP instructors.
Slated to run until 2029, the BPE Regional Training is set to lay the groundwork for a sustained collaboration between TMP and TMA. Under the current agreement, the TMP team will hold three (3) training courses in its first year to accommodate trainees across Toyota Asia affiliates.
Filipino excellence in the automotive value chain
Through the program, TMP’s Filipino trainers now play a key role in the development of the automotive industry in Asia, serving as standard-bearers and trainers for reliable vehicle care in the region.
The training also allows the TMP team to sharpen its training capabilities, furthering its capacity to deliver only the best products and services in line with global Toyota’s “Best in Town” philosophy.
Just this year, TMP’s BPE team earned two (2) global Toyota certifications from TMA in ‘Paint Instructor Course Step 1’ and ‘Estimation Instructor Course Step 1’. Looking ahead, the team has trainings lined up until 2027 for Toyota, Masters, and Professional global certifications, ensuring continuous improvement in TMP’s BPE training and services in the country.
TMP continues to prioritize the development of Filipino skills in both manufacturing and after-sales services, recognizing its skilled workforce as a key asset in supporting the automotive industry and Philippine economy.
Following the historic six-medal sweep of TMP’s Filipino line team in the Toyota 2026 Asia Pacific Skills Contest (ASPAC) last August, this milestone is a welcome addition to the Philippines’ heightened momentum in the regional stage.
