BYD Cars Philippines recently hosted an exclusive Drive-In Cinema at Ayala Malls Trinoma to celebrate the second anniversary of the Sealion 6 DM-i. The event brought together over 60 owners of one of BYD’s most popular Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) models. Participants joined a grand multi-point convoy from across Luzon, featuring stops at BYD Manila Bay, BYD Sta Rosa, and Shell Mobility Mexico Southbound, which hosts an ACMobility Charging station. This milestone underscores the strength of the BYD Sealion 6 Facebook community, which now counts over 25,000 active members nationwide.
“Our BYD Sealion 6 owners are the true heartbeat of the brand,” said Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines. “Every story they share, every new driver they welcome into the fold, and every kilometer they put on their Sealion 6 DM-i is a testament to the trust they’ve placed in us. We’re committed to matching that trust with exceptional, reliable after-sales support as this community continues to grow.”

Since its launch, the Sealion 6 DM-i continues to be one of the most popular models in the BYD lineup. As the country’s first vehicle featuring BYD’s Super DM-i technology, it offers a combined range exceeding 1,000 kilometers from a full charge and tank, effectively eliminating the range anxiety that has long held drivers back. This gave Filipinos a practical and accessible entry point into electrified driving. For owner Seth Tullao, that promise has played out firsthand: since buying his Sealion 6 DM-i in 2024, he has clocked 77,000 kilometers on an all-stock unit, a testament to the confidence owners have placed in the car as they push it to its full potential on Philippine roads.
That confidence is backed by substance with the vehicle’s ADAS suite and versatile Vehicle-to-Load functionality which add further layers of convenience behind the wheel. The Sealion 6 DM-i also comes with a 5-star safety rating from both ANCAP and Euro NCAP to round out its safety credentials. All of this comes wrapped in the kind of real-world fuel efficiency that has made the Sealion 6 DM-i a standout in its class and was awarded 2025 Car of the Year by the Philippine EV Community.
The 2nd anniversary of the BYD Sealion 6 honored the owners who have helped make it possible. In just two years, the Sealion 6 Owners Club has evolved into one of the country’s most active and engaged automotive communities. The group consistently hosts meetups that transform individual car ownership into a genuine communal experience, that allows members to share real-world insights, reflecting both the strength of the product and the trust owners have placed in the brand.
“Two years ago, we started with a handful of owners who simply wanted a place to share their experience with the Sealion 6 DM-i,” said Edward Salas, President of the BYD Sealion 6 Club. “Today, we’re a much larger community that is bound by a shared passion for electrified driving. Nights like this remind us how far we’ve come together, and how much further we can go.”
The event was made possible through key partnerships that extended the celebration beyond the automotive space. BYD Cars Philippines partnered with the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) to spotlight the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival as part of the evening’s program, lending the celebration a distinctly Filipino cultural dimension in support of local film artistry. The Club also welcomed McDonald’s and Taters as event partners for the celebration.
BYD Cars Philippines continues to invite the public to discover the benefits of BYD’s Super DM-i technology and join the growing movement toward electrified mobility in the country. For more information on BYD and its full lineup, you may also visit www.bydcarsphilippines.com.
