Based from L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, “America’s greatest and best-loved homegrown fairytale” according to the US Library of Congress, Emerald City is “an epic, enthralling and much darker take on the world of Oz, brought to life for a new generation with director Tarsem Singh’s jaw-dropping, breathtaking visual flair,” said iflix Group Chief Content Officer James Bridges.

Emerald City revolves around the 20-year-old Dorothy Gale (Adria Arjona) who is brought to another world after being swept up by a tornado in her Kansas home. Her arrival seems to add petrol to the fire that is the threat of a mythical force and the brewing anger of a cauldron of witches against the all-powerful Wizard (Vincent D’Onofrio).  Dorothy then embarks on a journey to get home with her dog Toto, and a slew of characters she meets along the way. Directed by Tarsem Singh, the epic, romantic and fantastical Emerald City is an empowering tale of a young woman finding her true strength and identity even as she battles to bring a divided world together.

The iflix-exclusive series joins the ranks of other highly acclaimed titles such as Mr. Robot, Aftermath, Channel Zero: Candle Cove, The Magicians, Fargo, and Aquarius. Emerald City features weekly episode updates every Saturday in the country about three to five hours after the US telecast.

iflix is available in Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Brunei, the Maldives, and Pakistan, and will be rolling out to other countries. The streaming service provider for emerging markets offers a wide selection of Hollywood, Asian, and regional content. Unlimited access sans the ads in the Philippines is priced at ₱129 per month. New subscribers are entitled to a one-month complimentary trial with full access to its services and content.
