DJI and Li Auto merged the motoring and tech beats for a day of content creation workshop in Camp Morri, Antipolo. Really, though, it was more of a presentation of the recently updated Osmo Action 6 and its capabilities.

There’s a lot of hype with the new DJI Osmo Action 6 thanks to its wider, variable aperture. It can now go as big as f/2.0 to f/4.0, depending on the exposure. Sensor size has also increased to a 1/1.1 square sensor. This lets you shoot vertical or horizontal videos without changing the physical orientation of the unit, as well as boosting the dynamic range up to 13.5 stops for better low-light details. 4K video has also been soup’d up to 120 fps, giving you crispy slow-mo videos. These are only a few of the numerous new things about this action camera.

Giancarlo Viterbo of Gadget Pilipinas was tapped to share the possibilities of the new Osmo Action 6. Instead of a plain presentation, though, he opted for a collaborative discussion with the audience to show how the new action camera can be utilized by those in the workshop.

As a new DJI user, having recently bought an Osmo Nano, I found the discussion very engaging despite being all over the place. The questions span not just around the new Osmo Action 6, but included the Osmo 360, and Osmo Nano as well. The great thing about it was all questions come from curious minds and places of experience.
While other brands might be wary of putting too many features in their latest product to avoid cannibalizing their other items, DJI is in a unique position. Their lineup serves very different purposes for the user. The Osmo Action 6 can be a main ‘pocket’ camera, while the Nano is your versatile B-cam or backup thanks to its magnetic capability and size. If your Nano is your main for its “perspective” then the Osmo Action can still be complimentary since it has a tougher shell for more hardcore shots. The 360 is perfect for those very wide and high-angle views, while the Pocket is a solution for those wanting more cinematic videos without the hassle of a rig.
Shooting modes were also touched. 4K 120fps is a game-changing feature at this price, but it certainly bogs down your storage and should still be used sparingly. Not everything should be in slow-motion anyway. Most are using 4K, though, despite the larger file size, as apparently it looks best in social media compared to 2.7K (my preferred size) and 1080p.

Automatic exposure was also given a bit of notice. The Osmo Action 6 has manual controls for exposure but if you’re alone and no one will control that, it’s best to leave it at automatic. The camera detects light from any part of the frame and so having a hint of strong light will affect exposure, which can compromise the brightness of the main subject which is you.
Despite the “Action” name, Action 6 also has other uses. Viterbo shared that sometimes he uses it as a discreet photo camera since it has a photo-only option too. The Action 6’s dynamic range, field of view, and form factor make it a great travel camera as it wouldn’t add bulk to your luggage and won’t attract thieves. Viterbo uses a third-party cage system on his Action 6. It adds a grip on the side so you can hold the camera in a traditional way, and not only between fingers.

Apart from the discussion, participants also had an opportunity to try out DJI’s latest drones. They brought with them the more compact end of their lineup which includes the Neo which is their smallest and most affordable, the Avata, and the DJI Mini.

DJI also shared its new DJI Power 2000 power station. This 16-inch box is packed with 2,048 Wh of power and can discharge up to 3,000 watts. It can power up any house appliance, even an air conditioner. It also has an option of daisy-chaining with other DJI Power 2000 units for more capacity and even discharging over the units for longer usage cases. All of this is done with just a 30dB noise level, much like a personal computer.

For their part, Li Auto has also shared the feature highlights of the L9. These include the 1,412 km combined range, the Magic Air Suspension, Panoramic Moon roof, built-in air purifier, and massage seats among others. They also showed their AI glasses that will work with their cars.
Raffle prizes were also given to lucky participants. They won gift certificates, DJI merch, and 1 took home a 64GB Osmo Nano, while another went home with the new Osmo Action 6 Adventure Combo.
