There are a lot of areas where the HUAWEI Pura Series shines — from its fashion-forward yet durable design to its stunning visuals and impressive everyday performance.
But what it’s truly known for are its mobile photography capabilities, keeping enthusiasts eagerly waiting to see what comes next — whether it’s better sensors, improved zoom, low-light performance, or stabilization. Will the HUAWEI Pura 80 Pro continue this streak and retain the camera crown? Read on to find out.
Design and build
In true HUAWEI fashion, the HUAWEI Pura 80 Pro stuns with its design, showcasing a mix of understated elegance and premium finishes. There are even design cues that align with the ‘forward’ motif like the camera module.
The glazed finish offers an eye-soothing look and a silky-smooth feel to the rear. To my surprise, it doesn’t attract fingerprint marks, so that’s a plus in my book. As a fan of neutral colors, I’m especially excited to be testing out the White color option. You can also choose from Black and Red to match your personal style or vibe.

Elegance often suggests fragility or delicateness, but the HUAWEI Pura 80 Pro begs to differ. It’s built with Kunlun Glass 2nd Generation, offering 20x better drop resistance. It also carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water protection. That’s more than ideal for something you’d want to stay looking as pristine as the day you got it.
This device leans on the heavier side weighing 219g, yet manages to keep a relatively slim frame at just 8.3mm. Nonetheless, it still gives you a comfortable grip with its smooth and ergonomic feel.
Display

Up front is a 6.8-inch HUAWEI X-True OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Watching my favorite shows on Netflix felt more immersive thanks to the crisp, color-accurate visuals. Whether it was the rich colors of Kpop Demon Hunters or the darker tones and shadow play in Wednesday, the display excelled in both. The viewing comfort remains consistent even in the sunny outdoors, thanks to the 3000 nits peak brightness.
Camera
Now, we’re down to the main event: the cameras. What stands out to me is how they can turn the most mundane scenes into something extraordinary. That seems to be the trend with the HUAWEI Pura Series.
Leading the camera setup is the 50MP 1-inch Ultra Lighting Main Camera with a variable aperture ranging from f/1.6 to f/4.0. It’s complemented by a 40MP Ultra-Wide Angle Camera (f/2.2) and a 48MP Ultra Lighting Macro Telephoto Camera (f/2.1) with 4x optical zoom. Meanwhile, HUAWEI’s Ultra Chroma system ensures vibrant, true-to-life colors across all shots.

Most of the shots I took were everyday scenes, and as I mentioned earlier, I love how the HUAWEI Pura 80 Pro can capture the beauty in the mundane. During my time with the device, I was impressed by the level of detail and sharpness in every image. Good lighting was a blessing, but even in challenging conditions, the Pura 80 Pro handled shots very well.
Amid harsh lighting, you might expect the background to overexpose when focusing on the foreground. Surprisingly, the Pura 80 Pro works hard to produce well-balanced photos with impressive dynamic range.
Macro shots are often an afterthought, but HUAWEI does it differently. You can confidently capture close-ups without worrying about a drop in quality. It’s got me wanting to take more shots of mouthwatering food.

When zooming in on distant objects, you’d expect some loss of detail. I tried 2x, 4x (optical), and 10x zoom, and even at 10x, the images held up surprisingly well. But of course, within the optical zoom range, I could achieve the composition I wanted without compromising quality, almost as if I were shooting at 1x.

Even with unsteady hands, the photos retain impressive detail with minimal effort, thanks to optical image stabilization (OIS). The same holds true in low-light conditions.

For the selfie enthusiasts, the 13MP Ultra-Wide selfie camera (f/2.0) produces sharp selfies and wide-angle shots, ideal for those Gen Z selfies with the crew.
Overall, the HUAWEI Pura 80 Pro once again proved that it’s capable of a well-rounded mobile photography experience. From wide landscapes to detailed close-ups, it handles a wide range of scenarios with ease.
Performance and OS
When it comes to day-to-day performance, the HUAWEI Pura 80 Pro keeps up with ease, delivering a smooth and fluid experience powered by the Kirin 9020 chipset. It also houses 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, which allow multitaskers and photo hoarders like me to get the best out of the device.
Even gamers can have their fun, as I tried running visually demanding titles like Asphalt Legends Unite and the experience went by without a hitch. And if your version of fun is doomscrolling, you can still expect the same breezy feel.
Running on EMUI 15, the HUAWEI Pura 80 Pro offers an intuitive, clean interface with a smart, personalized touch. You get a range of AI-powered features: AI Interactive Theme, AI Smart Controls for air gestures without touching the screen, AI Noise Cancellation during calls, and AI Messaging to keep conversations private. Essential apps are also easy to download through the HUAWEI AppGallery.

Battery and charging
It’s refreshing to see a flagship device lean towards a hefty battery without compromising so much on sleek design. The HUAWEI Pura 80 Pro packs a 5,170mAh battery, paired with 100W wired and 80W wireless HUAWEI SuperCharge.
That’s the kind of combination a woman like me needs in her life. Working for hours on end on my smartphone while I’m out and about drains the battery fast, but a quick power-up is always welcome.
When my day involves answering tons of emails and messages, doing quick edits, and posting on social media accounts, battery life is one less thing to worry about thanks to the generous battery that lasts all day.
Verdict
When it comes to mobile photography, HUAWEI consistently proves it deserves the crown, taking every aspect seriously — from powerful camera hardware to intelligent computational photography. The HUAWEI Pura 80 Pro has definitely continued that streak. It’s no wonder it turns heads among both professionals and hobbyists who sometimes take breaks from heavy equipment for a smartphone that can deliver just as impressive results.
It doesn’t just excel in photography; the HUAWEI Pura 80 Pro performs strongly across the board. It gives users the well-rounded experience they expect from a flagship device. You get a beautiful display and design, paired with a more than capable everyday performance, all for the price of PHP 59,999.
Beyond the specs, the HUAWEI Pura 80 Series is a flagship you can count on for the long run — especially with HUAWEI Premium Services giving that extra peace of mind. Watch our full video see why it’s more than just performance:
