What makes a good printer? For me personally, it’s one that can produce clear and crisp output without breaking the bank – essentially a printer that offers significant value for a wide range of people, from everyday joes to small business owners.

Design and build

The HP Smart Tank 580 features a simple and clean design, with a minimalistic black and white color scheme that would go well in any home or office setup. The printer weighs around 5kg, with dimensions of 434.66 x 361.53 x 157.26 mm (W x D x H).

Performance

Printing in black and white was especially quick, which is great if you’re deciding to print your homework last minute. (Wow, takes me back to my college days!)

The print quality is also fantastic. Printing black text looks crisp thanks to the 1200 x 1200 DPI resolution. The same can be said for colored output with its 4800 x 1200 DPI resolution with HP thermal inkjet technology. The finished product dries up quickly to easily avoid smudging. 

I’m particularly a fan of how clear the colored output is. It can be used in so many ways by different people: printing decor, images, signs, and more. The possibilities are endless. 

In terms of paper input, the HP Smart Tank 580 can hold up to 100 sheets. It can be calibrated to fit the size of the paper you will be using. The paper output, on the other hand, can handle up to 30 sheets. 

Convenience is also a feature of the HP Smart Tank 580. It can connect to the Wi-Fi network, allowing you to print wirelessly from your device, provided the said device is connected to the same network. 

But let’s say you and the printer are miles and miles and miles apart (Cue High School Musical 3’s Just Wanna Be With You), what then? Well, don’t fret. As long as you have the HP Smart app installed on your laptop (macOS and Windows compatible) or smartphone (iOS and Android compatible), you can print your documents from anywhere. 

As previously mentioned, the printer can copy, scan, and even perform remote scanning. The HP Smart app can save your scanned files to make them more easily accessible.
