Full review: Epson EB-FH52 projector

At times, projectors provide a more favorable large-screen viewing experience than large TVs. First of all, they save space while delivering a bigger display for viewers. Additionally, their versatility and portability make them ideal for numerous settings, from schools and workplaces to home entertainment. That said, in the sea of projector options, how does the Epson EB-FH52 compare? Read on to find out.

Design and build 

As mentioned earlier, a projector’s edge is its space-saving and portable build. All you need is a blank wall and you’re pretty much good to go. For the Epson EB-FH52 projector, you get a compact (3.1kg) and minimalist design that can easily blend in your home or workspace. It’s predominantly white with black accents. To adjust the projection size and shape, you may use the zoom ring and keystone slider, respectively.

The projector comes with accessories including a power cable, connection cable, remote control with 2 AA batteries, a user manual CD-ROM, and a quick start guide.

Connectivity and setting up

It also offers a wide range of connectivity options: HDMI, VGA, and USB. Setting it up is simple and straightforward. You may connect the HDMI capable to the projector and the other end to your laptop to automatically choose the HDMI as your source and begin with the projection. 

I highly appreciate that you can connect using your phone through the Epson app. Since I’m an Apple user, I downloaded the Epson iProjection app, which conveniently allows users to do wireless projection and screen mirroring. 

Display and performance 

The Epson EB-FH52 projector delivers 4,000 lumens of brightness and a Full HD (1920×1080) resolution. I was impressed by its color accuracy, level of detail, and vibrant display. Visibility won’t be an issue, even when streaming outdoors or in a brightly lit living room.

I’m a sucker for movie nights. For me, the perfect weekend looks like staying in and watching a light-hearted chick flick or binge-watching the series I’m currently hooked on. So if I were to use the projector, I’ll enjoy its entertainment benefits for the most part. But when I’m not watching movies, I’m probably listening to music. That’s why when I tested the Epson EB-FH52 projector, I was mostly on YouTube playing my favorite songs with the music video to set the vibe. 

It also features a 1.2x optical zoom for flexible installation, allowing you to adjust the display size using the zoom ring to fit your viewing requirements or preferences, especially if it’s being used in a professional setting.

The fan leans more on the noisier side, but not distracting enough given our distance from the projector itself. You may also switch to eco mode to quiet it down if the noise is too bothersome for you.

Whether you’re presenting at school or work, setting up a backdrop to create a mood, or hosting a watch party at home, the Epson EB-FH52 projector is a versatile yet compact device that delivers a large, immersive viewing experience, without taking up so much space and draining your wallet.
