First impressions: realme 13+

It is undeniable that mobile gaming is huge here in the Philippines. Smartphone brands are hyper-aware of this, which is why it’s not surprising that they tend to invest a lot in marketing for their SKUs that are meant to target the mobile gamer demographic.

The realme 13+ is a smartphone that is seemingly well-equipped to provide a seamless mobile gaming experience for its users. On paper, it looks like it can act the part.

What’s in the box?

When talking about inclusions, the realme 13+ is accompanied by your usual suspects. Inside you will find a quick start guide, a plastic phone case, a SIM card ejector pin and a Type-C charging cable with a charging brick.

Design and build

The realme 13+ comes in two colors – Dark Purple and Victory Gold. The latter is the unit I am currently testing and I must say, I’m a huge fan of the design. It is that excellent blend of elegance and uniqueness most mobile gamers would probably gravitate towards.

It also comes in a slim and lightweight form factor. The smartphone is not only light, but also easy to grip which will serve users well for their extended gaming sessions.

Display and speakers

In terms of the audio, the realme 13+ is equipped with dual stereo speakers. Each can be found on both ends of the device.

For the visuals, the smartphone features a 6.67-inch OLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. It also has an FHD+ resolution, a 92.67% screen-to-body ratio and a peak brightness of 2,000 nits.

Another feature of the display is the fingerprint sensor that it contains. The display also supports a host of eye protection features for a smoother viewing experience.

Camera

When it comes to its photo-taking capabilities, the realme 13+ is equipped with a 50MP main shooter which uses a Sony LYT600 sensor. It is also paired with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) to help avoid unwanted shakes.

The selfie camera is a 16MP shooter. It can be located on the punch hole at the top of the display.

Under the hood

Under the hood, the realme 13+ is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Energy. It is also accompanied by 256GB of storage and 12GB of RAM. The Dynamic RAM Expansion can be set to up to 14GB for a total of up to 26GB RAM. On paper, this smartphone shouldn’t have any problems running your favorite mobile gaming titles.

Battery and charging

The realme 13+ draws its power from a 5000mAh battery. It also supports an 80W SUPERVOOC Charge for fast charging and uninterrupted gaming sessions.

Final thoughts

On initial impressions, it seems like the realme 13+ could be capable of handling any of your gaming needs. It also gets plus points from me for being such a beautifully designed smartphone. We will see if this smartphone can actually hold its own when it comes to both gaming performance and everyday use.
