There’s a new truck in town. And it’s not just a new model, but a totally new brand. It’s Radar, a new Chinese pickup brand under the Geely umbrella. It’s brought to the Philippines by prolific multi-brand automotive distributor United Asia Automotive Group, Inc. (UAAGI), which counts in its portfolio Foton, Chery, Lynk & Co, BAIC, and Jetour. Radar made its local debut last October 3 at the Blue Leaf Cosmopolitan in Quezon City.

Here are 10 things you ought to know about the brand and its lineup of electrified pickups.
- Radar pickups come in two versions, both midsize: the full-electric RD6 Econ BEV, which comes in three variants (4×2 Standard Bed, 4×2 Long Bed, 4×4) and the plug-in hybrid RD6 EM-P PHEV, which comes in three trim variants (Comfort, Elite, and Luxury, all 4×4).
- What makes Radar pickups unique is that they feature a unit body (monocoque) construction instead of the more common pickup-body-on-top-of-a-ladder-frame chassis. It’s the reason why you won’t see the usual gap between the passenger cab and the cargo bed. Radar pickups also boast rear coil springs instead of the usual leaf springs. Result? A much more comfortable ride, as we experienced during a short drive around the venue. Going over humps felt like doing so in a sedan—no painful stiffness you’d expect in other pickups. Radar pickups achieve this while still maintaining a one-ton payload capacity.

- The fully electric RD6 Econ (BEV) goes from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds. With 136ps from the front motor and 245ps from the rear, it produces a total of 381ps and 485Nm of torque. That power also enables the RD6 Econ to boast 443 kilometers of driving range (NEDC) on a full charge. It has a minimum turning radius of 6.1mm, an 815mm wading depth, and a large, 1,765mm truck bed, which is the longest among double cab pickups in its segment.
- The RD6 Econ’s one-ton payload and spacious cargo bed are complemented by an optional front trunk (‘frunk’), providing additional (and more discreet) storage. Its robust body structure consists of 70 percent high-strength steel, ensuring sturdiness of build and improved safety in a crash.
- Other key features of the RD6 Econ include an 8” touchscreen display, reverse camera and rear parking sensors, wear-resistant cargo bedliner, and easy-to-clean premium synthetic leather seats.

| AWD | Php 1,748,000.00 | Php 1,698,000.00 |
- The RD6 EM-P plug-in hybrid electric pickup pairs a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with an advanced dual-motor system—producing 218ps from the front motor and 245ps from the rear—delivering commanding outputs of 463ps and 659Nm. The RD6 EM-P has an impressive total cruising range exceeding 1,000 km, delivering the benefits of both fuel efficiency and power.

- Offering multiple driving modes and refined tech features, the RD6 EM-P stands out with its 82 kilometers of pure EV driving range, all-wheel drive (AWD) with off-road modes, 14.6″ HD infotainment display, power outlets in the cargo bed, and panoramic sunroof.

- In China, Radar has commanded over 50 percent of the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) pickup market since 2023, and continues to hold the distinction of being the No.1 NEV Pickup. Globally, Radar maintains a robust market presence in several territories including the Asia-Pacific region, Eastern Europe, Middle East, Central America, and South America.
“With the launch of Radar, UAAGI not only diversifies its vehicle lineup but also contributes to the expansion of the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) market across the archipelago. We at UAAGI remain committed to meeting the evolving demands of Filipino motorists. And with the introduction of Radar, our goal is to lead the charge in this growing segment,” says UAAGI Chairman Rommel Sytin.
“These Radar EV pickups are proof that power and sustainability can coexist. These trucks provide our customers both a powerful workhorse and a cost-effective, utilitarian, and environmentally-friendly mobility solution. You get the strength of a pick-up and the comfort of an SUV. It’s truly the best of both worlds,” says Radar Brand Head Franz Decloedt.

All new Radar RD6 models come with a 5-year or 150,000 km bumper-to-bumper warranty, whichever comes first. The High Voltage (HV) battery is covered by a separate 8-year or 200,000 km warranty, whichever comes first. They also come with three years of free roadside assistance.
The RD6 is now available for viewing and pre-order at upcoming Radar authorized dealerships nationwide.
