Spring/Summer 2016 Collection Highlights

Grounded in design DNA from the best-selling Scuderia XX family and inspired by high-performance sport, the imposing new XX Kers reveals Scuderia Ferrari’s signature race-car influence in its bold, strong aesthetic elements. KERS stands for Kinetic Energy Recovery System, the cutting-edge technology developed by Ferrari to recover energy wasted in braking. Crafted in stainless steel with a bright/brushed or black ion-plated finish, the round 50mm XX Kers case, styled with extended sport lugs and crown protector, is truly commanding in size. Its fixed coin-edge bezel, in red or black anodized aluminum, sports bold, contrasting markers and Arabic numerals in the font found on the nose of a fabled Ferrari single-seater. Protected by flat mineral crystals, the black carbon fiber-textured dials are detailed by high legible contrast-colored numerals/markers and bold skeleton hands. Their reflector rings sport minute tracks with a contrast-color “red zone” between 12 and 3 o’clock. The signature counterbalance on the center-mounted seconds hand is shaped like a Scudetto. On the multi-function models, the day/date/24-hour subdials resemble Revolution dashboard gauges. The air intake-inspired silicone straps in black or red are debossed with the name Scuderia Ferrari. Contoured to hug the wrist for comfort, they feature a raised center section over a level with a horizontally slatted-look inspired by the distinct hood of the Ferrari Testarossa. Like the stainless steel or black ion-plated link bracelets, these straps are free-falling, rather than integrated, for better fit and function with the impressively oversized case.

The launch of XX Kers is being celebrated with a striking 54mm pinnacle piece. Providing a functional and compelling tool for any man on the go, the round black carbon fiber-textured dial is defeined by 3 “gauges” that may be set to report the time in three separate time zones. The large round analog subdial with Arabic numerals in a recognizable Ferrari font is designed to indicate time in home zone. Its three hands are set by the black crown located for comfort on the left side of the case. The time in zone 2, shown in the smaller round analog subdial with white markers, is controlled by the red crown positioned on the side of the case at 2 o’clock. Time in zone 3, or alternatively the date, is reported via a digital window shaped and positioned like the gear shift window on a Ferrari dashboard. A third crown at 4:30 controls which function—time or date—is shown, while the setting is adjusted by a corrector button recessed into side of the round black ion-plated stainless steel case at 3 o’clock. An applied yellow Racing Shield, skeleton hands, team red lettering and a Scudetto-shaped counterbalance detail lend strong Scuderia Ferrari sports character to this unique model with comes presented on a free-falling black silicone logo strap.

Launched in Fall/Winter 2015 as the next generation of the most successful family in the Scueria Ferrari line, RedRev captures the thrill of race day with a bold honeycomb texture inspired by the layered structure of a race car’s monocoque. For Spring/Summer 2016, new 3-hand RedRev designs retain this striking signature honeycomb texture on their matte finish black or white dials, and continue to keep pace with the trend toward bolder, high-performance watches with a more colorful, flowing ergonomic shape from case to strap. The round 44mm cases, crafted this season in a sleek, impact-resistant new thermoplastic material, sport a polished finish reminiscent of a Ferrari dashboard, while the black ion-plated crown features an etched Prancing Horse. New richly detailed multi-level dials sport a brightly colored “rev counter” accent on the reflector ring between 12 and 3 o’clock and an applied Scudetto at 3 o’clock. On two models, an Italian flag accent on the dial asserts country pride. The grooves on the integrated black or red silicone strap are inspired by the air intakes on a race car. One black strap sports a bold yellow Racing Shield and Scuderia Ferrari logo. On the others, a glossy/matte chequered flag pattern accent adds strong yet subtle automotive character.

Rich metallic tones and details add a new level of sportive sophistication to RedRev Evo, the most representative of the Scuderia Ferrari collection introduced last season. These powerful new chronograph designs continue to cater to the market’s appetite for bigger, high-performance watches with sleek ergonomic shapes. For Spring/Summer 2016, the bold round 46mm cases and integrated link bracelets fabricated in black or gunmetal gray ion-plated stainless steel are contrasted by new polished gold-toned and rose gold-toned dial and case elements—bezel and/or crown and pusher—a hot trend in the both the fashion and automotive industries, seen in car details such as the customized metal rims on limited Ferrari cars. Matching the case in tone, the dark multi-layered dials on these new designs sport the signature RedRev Evo deep honeycomb texture, black or bright new metallic plate and cylindrical subdial rim detail, contrast-filled metallic hands, applied markers and yellow Scudetto, and date display. An angled reflector wing, with printed Arabic numerals positioned as on a dashboard gauge, features a bold rev counter color-block detail.

One of the original Scuderia Ferrari families at brand launch in 2013, Pit Crew, with its strong racing character and bright, bold team colors, remains a perennial fan favorite. New models hitting the fast track for Spring/Summer 2016 retain the signature sculpted case design inspired by a race car’s air intakes, now crafter in a sleek new thermoplastic material that’s highly impact-resistant. The 44mm black or red case features a stainless steel crown with etched Prancing Horse logo detail. Rendered in white, yellow, red, or black, the dial sports Pit Crew’s signature chequered flag texture, a matching metal minute reflector ring with contrasting rev counter segment, crisply blocked black or red hour markers and a yellow Scudetto at 3 o’clock. The chequered flag motif is reprised in white, yellow on red along one side of the supple black silicone strap, creating crowd-pleasing graphic appeal.
