The Cherry Mobile Flare lineup expands with the addition of three new devices–the Flare S4 Plus, Flare S4, and Flare 4. Marketed as a more design conscious lineup, these smartphones are catering to the budget-conscious yet style-savvy Filipinos.

The flagship out of the three devices is the Flare S4 Plus. It has a full metal body, bigger display, more memory, a better camera, and improved battery. It’s an Android Lollipop device running on MediaTek MT6753 1.3GHz octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage and up to 64GB external via microSD. The smartphone also has a 5.5-inch Full HD OGS IPS display, 16-megapixel BSI rear camera and 8-megapixel BSI front camera, and 2,800mAh battery. It’s a dual-SIM device that comes with one micro SIM and one hybrid nano SIM/microSD card slot. The Flare S4 Plus is a 4G LTE-ready device as well. It comes in four colors–white, black, gold, and gray–and retails for P7,999.

While the Flare 4 and Flare S4 share similar specs, they differ in terms of design. The Flare 4 has more rounded corners and a more feminine look to it with its curves and smooth back. Meanwhile, the Flare S4 is more angular and has this textured geometric pattern on the back that reminds us of the ASUS ZenFone 2 Deluxe.

In terms of specs though, both have the same processor and storage as the Flare S4 Plus. But these can only support up to 32GB via microSD. These also have lesser RAM at 2GB. Both have 5-inch IPS HD display, 13-megapixel rear BSI camera and 5-megapixel BSI front camera. These are also dual micro SIM devices with LTE support. Battery is also a bit lower at 2,100mAh. But these Android Lollipop devices come in at just P4,999 each.

The Flare 4 is available in pink, black, white, and gold; while the Flare S4 comes in white gold, white silver, black silver, and black. The Flare 4 should be hitting stores by the third week of October (during the weekend), while the Flare S4 and Flare S4 Plus will be coming by the end of the month.

Android Marshmallow updates might not be in the cards yet for these new devices but owners of previous Flare models were given some good news. Also announced at the event, the Flare X, Flare S3 Lite, Flare S3 Octa, and the Flare S3 Power are all getting Lollipop upgrades around November via an OTA update.
