If you gathered all the Filipino selfies and laid them out geographically, you’d probably have enough to map most of Metro Manila. We’re a selfie-loving lot. It’s no secret that we were named the selfie capital of the world. It’s with this in mind that Samsung has released its new selfie-centric smartphones here in the Philippines: the Galaxy J5 and J7.

Both entries into the Samsung J Series feature their cameras. The 13-megapixel rear camera takes photos at 4128 x 3096 resolution and videos at 1080p. The 5-megapixel front camera is supplemented by a front-facing LED flash, a rarity in the smartphone market.

The Samsung Galaxy J5 has a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor with 1.5GB of RAM underneath the hood. The phone offers 8GB of internal storage, which is expandable to 128GB via a microSD slot. It sports a 5.0-inch Super AMOLED screen with 720p resolution. It has dual-SIM capabilities and a removable 2,600mAh battery. It comes in either white or gold. It is priced at P9,990.

On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy J7 offers a more midrange menu of specs. The phone has an octa-core Exynos 7580 chip (or a Snapdragon 615 chip) and 1.5GB of RAM. It has 16GB of internal storage which is also expandable up to 128GB via a microSD slot. It has a bigger 5.5-inch Super AMOLED screen, also with 720p resolution. Likewise, the Galaxy J7 has dual-SIM capabilities, but a bigger removable 3,000mAh battery. It also comes in white and gold. It is priced at P12,990.

Both phones are available now through Samsung Experience Stores nationwide. Get updates on products and launches through Samsung Mobile Philippines on Facebook, @samsungph on Twitter, or visit www.samsung.com.ph.
